Jointly carry out geological exploration projects with Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture

Hengda-Centuty(Beijing)Geophysical Technology Co., Ltd. has collaborated with Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture on geological exploration. They conducted three-dimensional resistivity exploration and three-dimensional laser scanning at a large-scale earthen ancient city site. The aim is to predict and assess the structural stability of the city site's foundation and part of the city wall, and to clearly identify the distribution of rammed earth layers and structural integrity within the city wall.

This project utilized the Syscal Terra Resistivity and IP system newly developed by IRIS Instruments. A total of six sets of measurement lines were set up, with a total of 11 measurement lines, and the detection work of two near the east-west city wall was completed.

Using two Syscal Terra for multi-transmission mode data collection can not only enhance the transmission signal, but also quickly obtain a large amount of three-dimensional resistivity information of the exploration area. The results of the resistivity distribution characteristics of the city wall and underground medium obtained through this exploration have a good correspondence with the stratum lithology information exposed by the surrounding boreholes.

Based on the application of 3D high-density electrical method for the detection of ancient city walls, we simultaneously used the 3-D LiDAR scanner Hovermap ST-X from EMESENT Pty Ltd to provide a more comprehensive multi-dimensional comparison of data for the study of ancient city walls, which can further improve the accuracy and reliability of the analysis of internal structural abnormalities of the city walls.
